New guy, first Volvo purchase. V70-XC70

A 1999 FWD is your best bet. They've cured many problems from the redesign, especially a late production 99. We have a 1999 V70 GLT. Absolutely fantastic car. As Consumer reports states, " an impressive wagon." Do not get an AWD (especially a 98) unless you really need it. The problems with them are an order of magnitude worse.
