Volvo Leather S70

I have velour seats, but a leather steering wheel wheel (std. T5 ). The wheel has been replaced, the die wore through. Leather may smell, look and feel wonderful for the first few years, but halfway through the car's life span it begins to look and feel like old cardboard. That's just my opinion, of course.

I have a 1986 Porsche 944 with leather seating surfaces that I bought used. As is typical of Porsches, the die had worn on the driver's seat left side bolster. I had it retouched by an upholstery repair guy recommended by my Volvo dealer. The repair guy, who works out of his van and does rounds at a number of area dealers had an exceptional eye for color, the repair was invisible. It's held up reasonably well for a couple of years, except for a wrinkle in the cow's skin where it's coming off. Not annoying enough to re-do it, yet.

IMO the German leathers hold up MUCH better, but I'd still order cloth seats and a leather wheel and shift knob given a choice.
