Low Coolant Light? S70 2000

I agree, the red warning light did look like it might indicate something more serious. I initially thought the car had overheated but I checked the manual and suspected a bad sensor.

Does anyone know if there are any moving parts in the reservorir (i.e sticking float) or is this more likely a bad contact or sensor?
