Severe Oil Leak 850 1996

Dear fellow listers:

I have discovered the source of the oil leak in my '96 850 GLT. It is
coming from what appears to be the left side of the engine (from the
driver's seat), as installed in the car. At the rear, left corner of
the engine is a round cover, which appears to house the end of the
camshaft bearing. Within the cover itself appears to be some form of
electrical contact. When removed, the end bearing of a shaft
(presumably the camshaft), is exposed and it appears as though some
form of collar is not doing its job, allowing oil to leak through the
housing and onto the manifold. I get about 50 miles per 3 qts of oil.

Any ideas as to what this is and what it'll take to fix?

Thanks...
