Vibrating when braking -- and after car has stopped V70-XC70 1998

You say you've seen my problem on a '98 S70. Since I'm pretty clueless about how cars work, I was wondering if you could explain to me why the vibrating occurs only after long trips through traffic (i.e., after using the brakes a lot) and only when the weather is warm/hot.

How is the problem connected to the use of the brakes -- is the trans not downshifting somehow? Also, would/should I be experiencing any other problems with the trans?
