A/C Question 850 1997

Hey Kyle,

The Volvo uses a CCOT style A/C system (Constant Cycling, Orifice Tube regulated), it is suppose to cycle OFF and ON during its normal operation, but not cycle "Like Crazy". Just OFF and ON at probably 30 second intervals if you had to time it. But sitting static in your garage you are not going to see it cycle OFF much if it is properly charged. Sounds like your system is just a little low on R134 and just needs a small recharge. Easy to do yourself. Sitting in the garage at idle you would only want to see the low pressure side get pulled back to about 28 psi. Now at highway speeds you are going to see that get pulled down to about 24 psi and the compressor will cycle OFF for just a few seconds (10-20 seconds), this is normal operations. So just recharge your system a little and it should be good to go. Good luck ......... Mike
