Rear Center Brake Light Failure 850 1994

The rear center brake light on my 850 has stopped working.

I am due for an inspection in a month or so and would like to fix it for less than the quoted $450.

I have replaced the bulb a number of time and that does not seem to fix the problem. Wherever I take it, they always tell me that it is going to be a big deal to fix it.

If anyone has had the same problem and been able to fix it on your own, I would appreciate the help.
