towing ability 850 1994

I have a '94 850 turbo wagon and the owners manual says it can tow 3500 pounds
which is about the weight of your 1600 kg trailer. I haven't towed anything
with my 850 but I had a '79 which I used to tow a 2000 lb trailer over high
mountain passes here in Colorado(USA). The car was rated by Volvo to tow
2200 pounds I think. Although the car did it, it was a real struggle. I think
it's probably best to stay under the recommended maximum towing weight, especially when in the mountains.
