Front Wheel Bearing Replacement 850 1996

I agree. I watched my mechanic replace the wheel bearings and that was what he did. However, failure at your mileage sounds premature. Sure the problem isn't somewhere else? In my case I found out too late. The weird noise and vibration were caused by my tires but the mechanic ripped me off several hundred by changing the bearings.

"Forget that Haynes crap. Romove the axle, the take the 4 star bolts out and hammer out the hub. Get a wire brush and brush it out real good, then go back together with it. That adhesive stuff is B.S. no dealer does that. The angle tightening gauge, Ignore it just make sure everything is tight going back together and dont worry."

Good luck!
