Gaz Filter Replacement 850

I had lots of trouble getting the rear one off the last time I changed the filter on my 850. The previous replacement had an aluminum nipple, and the snap on connector had dug itself into the aluminum.

I ended up cutting off the connector and added a short length of fuel injection grade rubber hose along with two hose clamps. Now it works great and the next time I need to change the darn thing it will be easy.

I am not at all impressed with these new snap fit connections which have become so popular. I am sure that they speed the assembly line, but they can cause repair headaches down the road. They also allow the mfg. to charge absurd prices for custom replacement parts where once upon a time standard products could be used. $200 for a fuel line to go from the fuel filter to the engine bay is nuts. Likewise $300 for a replacement heater core is also way over reasonable.
