Please help....eating up all the oil.... 850 1997

All,
Thanks for the responses. Just to be a little more specific, i've got the base 850 model (non-R, non-T5, non-GLT) and am in the States, so left-hand drive i think. Since the oil was replaced, i've driven around 4300mi. By not noticing oil under the car, i mean on the ground. As far as i can tell, the car was level when i checked the oil. Because the dipstick was dry, i added 2 quarts to tie me over until i take it to the dealer this Thursday. As i understand it, if the oil isn't in the engine and isn't on the ground, it has to be burning it, right?...which probably means major repair cost. I'm just a little peeved 'cause the car has only 52000mi on it.
Anyway, thanks again for all the help. I'll keep everyone posted as to what the dealer says.
