This made me spew my latte out my nose. Federal standards? Like DOT lighting? When I turn over a rock and find an unused HID kit there, I'm putting it in my car, no matter what the federal standards are.
(Of course, he's probably referring to nylon-socket halogens like 9004's, not the metal-base H7's in 1998-and-later Volvos. The H-series lamps are manufactured to a higher specification.) (And certainly late-model freeform reflectors with clear glass lenses made to DOT spec are totally incapable of redirecting the extra output where it belongs - that's why we use e-Code lenses, to bend that light down onto the road.)(So in a roundabout way, I suppose he's agreeing with us.)
