Flame trap + Burning Oil 850

My 850 has started producing a lot of white smoke - sometimes blue too suggesting oil is being burned.

I've noticed that my Flame Trap holder has become completely corroded (1/4" hole)

Is there any way this could be contributing to my 850 buring oil / producing smoke. There is no evidence of coolant mixing with the oil, so I presume that the head gasget is fine
