Strut Tower Brace - 98 V70R V70-XC70 1998

What a great site this is. I am a new first time Volvo owner, just bought a '98 V70 R with 100,000kms. Am loving the car and want to make some performance improvements, specifically to handling and top end speed. Am open to suggestions. So far I plan to put 17" wheels on to replace the 16s there now, will put on the dual exhaust, and may put a K&N filter in. Not really sure what more I can do. Are performance chips useful and relatively easy to install and maintain? I would like to know if anyone has tried a strut tower brace on this model. Does it help with stability? Also would take suggestions for other performance upgrades proven to work.
