steering wheel clunk 850 1997

brakes are good and are Volvo. It is not a noise, but more of a movement felt in the steering wheel tranferred from the column. It is felt as a distinct 'pop' or 'clunk' that happens once upon acceleration. It also could be decribed as a slight shifting in the column which is felt through the steering wheel. I think the brakes are only an issure in terms of causing the wheels to push inward on the column and the acceleration is a pulling away effect.
