Experience with Radiators 850 1994

Beware of anything ".com" when it comes to radiators. In the process of putting a V-8 in my 242 I ordered a radiator for a Diesel 200 series (the radiators for the gasoline Volvos can't cool enough for the V-8 motor) The thing eventually came, and it was the wrong radiator. I returned it and purchased a used one out of a wrecked Diesel and had it re-cored.

I recommend you take your Volvo to a radiator shop. Ask around, I try to avoid National chains as they routinely over-charge whereas the middle sizes shops are striving to get and keep business.

I am not familiar with anything but the 200 series Volvo, but if the 850 comes with a brass/copper radiator the shop should be able to repair the leak, if it's plastic/aluminum they should be able to replace it for a lot less than $1,000.

I have heard Modeine (spelling?) after market radiators are good.

Good luck.
