Pollen filter retro fit! 850

Dear All

This is a great site! I am wondering if it is possible to fit a 'pollen filter kit' from a lhd to a rhd car. I know the rule of thumb is that it is fitted the opposite side to the fuse box. As I look under the hood of my '93 850 the fuse box is on the left near the windscreen, is this the same side as a lhd car? Can I then fit a pollen filter kit to my car?

My local Volvo Dealer is uninterested and says that if one was not fitted when the car was made then don't bother fitting one now!!
