AC compressor 850 1996

Hi!

Well, further to a previous post, my 855 AC works fine, nice and cold, until usually within 1/2 hour of being on, the compressor turns off. Give it 10 to 15 minutes and it's back working.

When it happened tonight, I bridged out the multiplug on the pressostat. Well, the compressor didnt turn on, but it sounded like something had 'engaged', ie, the engine note changed (or it was another noise) and sounds just like it does when the AC is switched on (without the 'click' of the compressor engaging).

So, if it's not the pressostat at fault, I've heard of common faults with compressors which can be 'by-passed' - a 'super-heat' switch or something??

BTW, evaporator is new (it was leaking), and system only regassed 3 weeks ago, as I originally thought problem was another leak! Gas weight/volume was correct, and no leaks.

Thanks,

Kevin
