PLEASE HELP!! URGENT S80 2001

PLEASE HELP! About 9 months ago I BEGGED my husband to buy my a Volvo S80 (2001). Several weeks ago (2,000 miles OVER the 60,000 warranty), the belt that runs the power steering pump and alternator broke, wrapped around the belt tensioner and shattered the engine block (I have NO IDEA what any of this means). Since I was supposed to get the belt changed at 60,000 miles, Volvo is offering our family NO assistance. The charges to repair our car are currently $12,000.
