HID conversion on S40 S40-V40

Hi guys,

I'm posting this question on behalf of a friend. He has a '99 Volvo S40 T4 and he's interested in converting the headlight to HID, the factory set-up which is offered as an optional item on the newer S40's in the last year or two. Does anyone know if he can just purchase the new headlights and fit it to his '99 model? Did they change the headlight design / dimension at all since the '99 year model?
