Would Clogged Fuel Filter cause CE light to come on ? 850 1995

Hi ! Newbie here ! Could a clogged fuel filter cause the CE light to come on ? If not, could a bad fuel pump do it ? The only symptom is a "skipping" feel on acceleration like it can't get enough gas through the line. The problem started a couple days before the CE light came on and got progressively worse. It hasn't gotten worse since the CE light came on. Chris
