serpentine/auxilliary belt tensioner. 850

Dear All

I was checking underbonnet and noticed as the engine was running that the serpentine belt tensioner (behind the power steering pump) had a part shaking. It seems that the body of the tensioner was stable but a small round part with a 'lobe' on it was shaking back and forth.

Is this normal? How do I know if the tensioner is about to pack in?

I really don't know if the belt was ever changed though it doesn't seem to have any cracks or splits!!
Thanks again
Matt
