You can try resetting the codes for the pnp type failure. I had it once way back. cleared the codes and havent had any reoccurance.

As for the noise. I had something similar but it was with the air conditioning.
My drain was clogged and it filled up water.. tons of it. So with the a/c on and I turned sharp left it made the squeeling. I think the compressor was overloaded because of the clog. I drained the system that night and hadnt had reoccurance since... about 1 week now.
