Matt, can you do a write-up? I cannot locate the valve. 850

Sure

Here is a site that shows a picture from the excellent 'Bay 13' site.

It is the first picture that comes up when you click on the page that deals with 'EGR'.

The 'check valve' (I think that is what it is called) is located under the throttle body. I needed to remove the rubber air hose that has the flame-trap in to access the 'check valve' and vaccum lines.

On the picture you can just see the small 'check valve' at the bottom of the photograph. The 'check valve' has a black side (top) and a white side (bottom). It also has a vacuum line coming out of the top side and the bottom goes into the 'T' piece on the vacuum line.

I took the 'check valve' to a local car parts dealer and after looking at it he supplied one for a VW golf - they said there wasn't one listed for Volvo, so I tried the VW part and all seems to work well. It cost 5 Dollars (US), just a small plastic thing.

I hope this is of help. I wish I send you photo's but I don't have digi-cam.
matt.
