glove box 850 1996

Regarding the stuck glove box...

This happened to me on my '93 850. Based on messages on this board the method of opening the glove box was to carefully pry the door open enough to get to a hack saw blade in to cut the latch doodad - essentially a U shaped wire hoop. The key is to place something on either side of the blade to keep from dinging up the upholstery. I used card stock.

I found that there two parts that were broken. The U shaped hoop I had to cut (about $5) , and a small nub that was broken off in the mechanism in the door. (about $45).

I was able to drill an 1/8 inch hole where the nub was and put in a 1/2 long tension pin ($0.10). This saved me the $45.

I hope this helps.
