In the process of troubleshooting a problem with the blower fan just shutting down (previously posted and answered) I pulled the fault codes from the B1 module. The codes indicate 'outside temp sensor open or shorted (1-2-2), pass side interior temp sensor fan seized (4-1-7), and ECU fault in program memory (4-2-0). I will remove the passenger side interior temp sensor tomorrow and clean it as blowing compressed air into it did nothing. Does anyone know how to check the outside temperature sensor? The only post I could find on it talks about a test box and adapter harness but doesn't explain what these are. What I'm looking for is a way to check the sensor with a digital multimeter to see if it is any good. The Haynes manual doesn't help on this matter, in fact they show an outside temp sensor that doesn't look at all like the one on my car (94 855T). They show what looks like the ambient air sensor (for the dash display) while the sensor on my car is an angular block that bolts to the pan under the windshield wiper well cover just right (passenger side) of center. I tried resetting the fault codes according to the Haynes manual, but that doesn't seem to work either. Do the offending parts need to be fixed before the ECU can be reset? Is the 4-2-0 fault code just an indication that there are faults stored in memory (i.e. 1-2-2 and 4-1-7) or is it indicative of another fault by itself?
