AC Compressor Problems 850 1995

If your only problem is the A/C compressor clutch, look into replacing just the clutch. That way you won't have to discharge and recharge the system, or replace an expensive compressor. You will need to buy a puller tool to get the clutch off, and you may have difficulty removing the retaining bolt if you don't have an air ratchet (the compressor shaft will just turn, unless you can find a way to hold it.) You will also need snap ring pliers.

I haven't tried this, but I suspect that there is enough flex in the A/C hoses that you can unbolt the compressor and move it to a position where you can get the clutch unbolted and removed.

I would recommend buying a new clutch, not a rebuilt. Check with:
