Oil being 'pushed' out of oil fill cap 850 1994

Make sure recall ("service campaign") 69B has been done on your car. A dealer should be able to look up your VIN and tell you. Or, call Volvo customer service 1-800-458-1552, and they can tell you. This is a free repair and it upgrades the pcv system by replacing (faulty??) hoses.

My car ('93 850 GLT) started oozing oil from the front oil seal, then from the oil cap, then from the rear main seal because this recall was not performed as it should have been (my dealer did not even know about this recall when I asked them about it!). My pcv vacuum tube was cracked and brittle and completely clogged resulting in crankcase pressure (and all those oil leaks).

I just had the service done (at 120k mi). Upon inquiry, the mechanic told me that the breather box (on the block and at the end of the oil vent tube which got replaced) was reduced to about the thickness of his finger, so he cleaned it out.

Hope this helps.
