Rear Springs....removal/reinstallation 850

Previously I had heavier duty springs put on the rear of my 850...work done by my mechanic....I didn't want to fool around with spring compressrs and it was winter. I need to do the same thing on my S70....can I do iy myself easily with a spring conpressor? Do I need to disconnect the shock? Any pitfalls/hints/dos/don'ts?
