V70 reliability V70-XC70 2002

I have an '02 and with 20K miles have had no problems. I have a non-turbo base 2.4 FWD AT. I remember reading about Ford electrical systems guys working with Volvo and Jaguar when Ford bought them. Car & Driver or Autoweek maybe- they impression I got was that was a good thing (in return Ford was getting platform/suspension and engine help). My previous Volvo was an '89 240DL, and it had some electrical quirks, like a tendency to need bulb replacements.

I would suggest steering away from any first year of a particular model run. Most car companies make mods and improvements that make year two of a run a more reliable car. I think that's why the 240 was such a trooper- they made it forever.
