Correction.

Correction.

The AWDs to stay away from are the older AWDs before they went to the Haldex unit. The S60s with AWD are great, so are the XC90s, and the 2004 XC70/V70. The haldex unit can handle a spare tire, etc. etc. Read: computer controlled.

I would only stay away from 1999 to mid year 2000 S80s. They worked a lot of bugs out in late 2000, 2001. A 2002 S80 is a good car. C70 Convertibles are a toss up. They had quality control problems early on in production, but most of that was worked out by 2000. It seems that 2000 was the year that Volvo got their stuff together. The C70 is now a pretty good car, and damn sexy.

The FWD V70s are pretty bulletproof, so are the other FWDs. The S40/V40 are probably Volvos most reliable, along with the S60.
