AC compressor clutch 850 1996

Hi!

So ok, worked out why my AC shutting down - the compressor isn't spinning after a while, and turning off.

There's a power supply after the superheat switch up to the clutch, but the clutch disengages after a while and won't re-engage unless AC switched off and back on again 10 minutes later.

So I assume the clutch is failing.

Anything I can do without removing the compressor, and having to regass (I only had it done a few weeks ago!!)

I'm sure I read somewhere from someone else that they took wire going to clutch to a relay, which was used to switch 12volts direct from the battery to the clutch )apparently the voltage to their compressor clutch was below 12 volts, and the 13 or so volts from the battery was good enough to overcome weak windings in the clutch, or something! But cant find the post........

I expect new compressor are not cheap!!

Thanks,

Kev
