Want to buy a 94 850... how can I convince my dad that this one is right for me??? 850 1994

Hello Forum,
I am looking at a 1994 850 turbo wagon. It is very nice, of course, with 109,000 miles and a one year warranty for 8 grand. Good deal right? Well, my dad thinks that this car will have many many problems, because its foreign (He's a Chevy man) and thinks I should get a Bonneville. He is totally against me buying any foreign car, unless its a Honda (I'll deal with an Acura though...) How can I convince my dad that Volvos are very reliable and practical? I need some stories and some facts.

I test drove a Bonneville with 80,000 miles and it was fine until it started stalling after 30 minutes. And no, it wasn't running out of gas, according to the guages. I know a volvo wouldnt do that. PLus, we've had many Chevys and other american cars. The only half reliable one is my mom's Tahoe. All of the others have been in the shop countless times, not to mention they are bland and have plenty of rattles. My first car was a 92 Cadillac Eldorado. My parents put 3 grand into it in a year just to keep it running. I can't stand another American car.

Volvo wagons have the room that I need and the prestige (I go to college in Lake Forest, IL... if that means anything to anyone.) They are very safe and reliable. Not to mention its cold there... Bonnevilles dont have heated seats. I can't imagine myself driving anything less.

Anyways, I would REALLY appreciate ANY support or information. Anyone in here think I shouldnt get it? Remember, I'm just a college student who cares about good machinery.
