Flashing AC lights V70-XC70

We have a 1999 V70 GLT. We always leave the dual automatic climate control system ON in the AUTO position.

Started the car this morning. The green light for OUTSIDE AIR and the green light for AC on were both lit, as usual. However, the orange lights on the switches for RECIRC and AC OFF where both on and flashing. The flashing went on for about two or three seconds. Then the orange lights stayed off and the system functioned fine, cold air and all (this is Texas and already 85 degrees when I leave for work at 7:00 AM).

Anyone else had this happen, did this lead to a big (i.e. costly) problem, and what was it.

Thanks
