non-working glass sunroof in '93 850 GLT 850 1993

I have a 1993 850 GLT I purchased about a month ago with 124k miles on it.

The other day the glass moonroof quit moving. When I operate the switch in the dash the motor runs. I can hear the motor running when I move the switch either up or down. But the roof panel does not move.

Does anyone have any experience with this? Is it gears or cables or???
I am willing to take it apart and try to fix it myself if I have a place to start or a little guidance.
