760 vs 850 850 1997

I agree with Frank.

If your car is now in shape, I think that it will last a while. The last owner did not sell it for no reason, some things were due for repair.

We have owned 7 Volvos (one sold, one totaled) and all have needed some repairs. One thing that has impressed me is that the repairs have LASTED.

We have owned our "88 GLE for nearly 8 years and 120,000 miles (now 233,000) and the only things that have been repaired more than once are wear items like pads and rotors, spark plugs, etc. We have done tie rod ends 3 times. A lot of stuff has never been repaired. I only have done one exhaust system!

This car runs well, passes emissions testing and gets mileage in the high 20s.
It still carries a full load well.
The air conditioning is another story, but It only gave out two years ago. I won't fix it.

I hate to tell you this, but - $2000 is short money in Volvo dollars! High quality parts cost money.
