RWD "experts"? The ONLY differences between an '88 760T (which was probably my favorite overall Volvo dash layout) and an '88 740T is ECC (wasn't too problematic), power sunroof (no big deal), power seats (also wasn't bad), heated power mirrors (never a problem), tilt steering. Otherwise the 2 cars were identical in every way. I almost bought a traded in '88 760T recently for $1000 (was nice) but a wholesaler grabbed it before I had a chance. I'd buy one similar in a heartbeat for that price.
Compared to ANY new Volvo, the old RWDs are hard to beat in terms of durabilty and simplicity. Working on them daily, I've learned to hate new Volvos but it's a job and yes, steady work (true job security forever).
