AC compressor - to change or not? 850 1996

Hi!

My AC compressor keeps cutting out every 20 or so minutes. Turn AC off for a few minutes, and compressor will start again. Leave AC turned on and it won't.

When it cuts out, there is still a power supply to the compressor.

I've checked all down the system for volt drop/resistance. All ok, and anyway, as I've said, power to compressor, even when it shuts down.

System gas all ok as well.

Is it time to bite the bullet and buy a new compressor? Car has 160,000 miles, and in the 2 years I've had it, the AC has been on 99% of the time!
