AC compressor - to change or not? 850 1996

Other posts to the contrary, this is exactly the symptoms my car had, and it was a bad compressor. I finally took it in to the dealer and had it checked. Diagnosis, bad compressor. The quoted charge was quite high, so I took it in to a Volvo indi and had it checked. Same diagnosis. The indi did the work for quite a bit less than the dealer. I had it done about a year ago, and the AC is still working great. BTW, a burned clutch is probably just a byproduct of a bad compressor, and not the root cause of the problem.
