If one had purchased a Volvo VIP or other extended warranty, it'd be covered. I'd bet that the same transmisions in GM cars aren't lasting much longer and I'll ask the GM HD trans guys who overhaul them daily. By Volvo, they don't even teach trans overhaul classes and don't want them overhauled in dealers. That's why they have their reman program instead.
Volvo claims that the S80 GM trans has had many improvements over the same stock GM trans used in GM cars BUT.................
