98 overheating (no coolant light comes on but there is coolant in there) S70

Well, this is a total guess, but how about the thermostat? Or maybe the water pump? If the thermostat is not opening up all the way, this could be interpreted as not enough coolant, therefore low coolant. I don't know if a waterpump could get to the point that its not pumping enough and not be leaking, so I'm leaning towards the thermostat. Of course, I could be WAY off base. Just a slightly educated guess (but I am clueless most of the time when it comes to my Volvo - its like its from another planet :)).
