TRACS OFF and ABS light coming on........ V70-XC70 1998

Anyone have an idea why the TRACS OFF and ABS lights would come on for a 20-minute drive home last night, but then be off this morning?

I do know that the rear brake pads have only about 1/2 inch pad left on them. But I didn't think that would cause those 2 warning lights to come on.
