Did I get the right cabin air filter replacement part? S70 1999

I ordered the replacement filter from an online retailer (and I emailed them already, but won't hear back until tomorrow, I'm sure)

the replacement is in a box clearly labeled as the replacement filter but is markedly different than the original.

it's the same size, but lacks the plastic frame and little snap key to hold it in the (what ever the name of the bracket/frame/mount it goes into is)

is this a proper replacement?

has anyone else used this part?

does it need a different mount/receptical in the car to work?
