Electronic Climate Control 850 1997

I'm new to the forum but have reached the limit of my patience with my dealer service. Have had recurring problems with ECC, latest involved the dealer replacing the control unit, but REC and AC OFF lights still flash. Told him to stop working on it.

I pulled off shutter motors and found broken gears, etc. Clearly these need to be replaced but I need to be able to reset the ECC control.

1) I have the flashing REC and AC lights, but see no codes from by ODBII code reader. How do I reset these? Is it possible without going back to my dealer (please, no).

2) If I had to invest in one repair manual, any recommendations?
