Automatic sticks in park (shift-lock overide doesn't work, only percussive maintenance) 850 1994

Long time lurker, first time poster. I hope you can help.

I bought an automatic 94 850 turbo wagon a couple of months ago. So far it seems to be in good shape- the AC runs strong and cold, the seals don't leak, and the interiors are in great shape. However, every so often, when I start the car, the shifter won't move out of park. The shiftlock override button doesn't get the shifter unstuck, the only thing that works is shoving the shifter further into park or sometimes hitting it with my hand (I found this out due to frustration one AM). Has anyone else had this problem? If so, what did you do to fix it? Any help would be most appreciated!
