Stuck antenna S70

The cause of your problem is dirt that has accumulated on the antenna and has caused it to jam. I had exactly the same problem a couple of months ago. This is how I fixed it. With the radio off, unscrew the bolt at the bottom of the antenna, have someone turn on your radio. As the antenna opens lift the antenna out. The entire mast and the plastic cord will come out and removed the antenna. Inspect the cord for damage. If no damage is visable and the antenna is not bent, I suspect it is dirt. Spray a cleaner/lubricant like WD40 into the antenna and work it up and down. I ended up having to pull it pretty hard to unstick. Clean and lube with a synthetic lubricant or silicone. To replace the mast, have someone turn off the radio and guide the cord back in the way it came out. Replace the bolt at the base of the antenna. If the cord or antenna is damage, a new mast only cost $22 by mail order. Here is a great web site for repair info. http://www.volvospeed.com/maintence.htm
