instrument cluster lighting V70-XC70 1998

I know that the '99 Rs have blue gauges but I've seen '98 Rs with stock guages too (a Canadian car). I've been told that they're suppose to be blue however.
The bulbs are clear (white) and yes they can be changed by removing the upper dash pad assembly.
