odometer stoped working 850

I have a 1995 850GLT I bought new and I just noticed that the odometer or the trip counter stoped working. This is the tradition numeric type and NOT the digital version. I see many issues about older volvos but cannot find information on how to fix this problem The local shop wants $350 to repair but I would like to do this one myself if possible. Any shared experince with this problem would be a big help.
