brake squeal 850

mike,
I have a 1997 855GLT and have done PBR deluxe pads w/new rotors also. After 4000mi, I was fed up with the squeeling-rear pads have been my issue. I found that I could temporarily fix the squeeling by removing the pads and putting fresh non squeel grease on the back of the pads. After a trip down from the mountains the grease would get melted away and my problem was back. I then put PBR Mettalic pads on the back and the pitch of the squeel was a bit more tolerable. I hear from my mechanic, and the dealer, that going to Volvo pads is the sure fix. I cannot put up with the dust all over the front wheels from Volvo pads.
My next move is the Raybestos Quiet-Stop pads made from Ceramic. They have got good reviews from others on this website. The Raybestos website is the following:

Good Braking/Don't give up,
Chuckster
