S80 T6 Starter problems S80 1999

An air filter has nothing to do with intermittant hard starting, impossible. If anything's related, "maybe" MAF meter connector.
You mention "cam possition sensor" but how do you know that? Might they have damaged your engine speed sensor which mounts to the engine, just above the trans where it bolts to the engine? Why would it skip cranking, chipped tooth on torque conv ring gear (normally part of reman trans from Volvo).
